I Wonder . . .

I Wonder . . .

We all want the world to be a better place, right?  Sure we do.  So how do we get there?  Ask this one question:  “Why?”

Yep.  It’s that simple.  (Not to be confused with easy).  There’s always a better way to do things, but how will we ever know if we’re not actively seeking them.  Well, like a 3 year old, I ask “why” all the time.  However, I’m not exactly wondering about a better way to split an atom.  I like to think I wonder about more practical subjects.

I’ve been collecting a list of wonderings and now I think I’ve got a post’s worth:

-Do vegetarians eat animal crackers?  (Or goldfish crackers, for that matter?)  (Or Teddy Grahams?)

-Why does sour cream have an expiration date?

-Why is a doctor’s business called their “practice?”  (I don’t know about you, but I don’t know if I like being practiced on.)

-Who decided the order of the alphabet?  And why isn’t Q at the reject end of it with X, Y, and Z?  (It’s kind of out-of-place where it is, now.)

-Why do they put Braille on drive-thru ATMs?

-Why don’t they call non-stop flights one-stop flights?

Anything y’all wonder about?

Lol, the ATM one always stumps me, too. I'm in Florence and encountered a bidet for the first time, and that had me wondering out loud to my roommate. (http://makesmylife.tumblr.com/post/1508967996)

Oh, and I think nonstop flights are because they don't stop anywhere prior to their destination, unlike ones with a connection. Right?

lmfao the braille is a good damn point! FOCKERS HOW CANT SEE SHOULDN'T BE DRIVING! When I saw that a few months ago that worried the hell out of me and I got off the streets! I mean, come on, if they have that shit, that means there are blind folks driving around...aren't they?

I saw an atm the other day and thought what? they can't drive..why would they pull up to an atm?? Also, why do they only put rumble strips on the side of the road? I would rather fall asleep and drive toward the ditch than toward the other cars... Lol great blog!

The ATM question has bothered me for years. Also, why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways?

Things to ponder...

Why are they called apartments if they are stuck together?

The ATM thing: it's because the ATMs in the drive through are the exact same ones as in non-drive through locations. The tiny amount of extra plastic needed to create the braille is far, far cheaper than creating a new set of molds for a non-braille machine. It's just mass production at it's finest.

And sour cream will actually grow mold on it eventually. One of my pregnancies totally turned me off to sour cream, and I discovered the half-full package after I delivered my son. Not pretty.

Sorry. I'm an insufferable know it all. Did I warn you? If not, I am sorry. All the other things, though, I have no idea.

Especially the "practice." Yikes.

Thanks for commenting, everyone. I guess I'm not the only one worried about blind people driving around to use the ATM.

@ Jumble Mash I never thought about apartments. Good one.

@ Gina It's okay if you're a know-it-all. Knowledge is power! (That sounded like a good place to be cliche.) And as far as a doctor's practice... maybe they should call it a doctor's "for-real-this-time"

The ATM one stymied me for a while but I surmise that's it's there to guide people at the night time and yeah, I agree with Gina. It would take so much funds to manufacture a different machine for drive through ones.

Still, though. These things make you think. :)

I found you on 20 Something Bloggers! <3
